Carmelo is also a former Advisory Board member and now passionate volunteer for Mirror Memoirs, an oral history project centering the narratives, healing and leadership of LGBTQ survivors of color in the movement to end child sexual abuse.
Carmelo received an MPH from CUNY Graduate School of Public Health, as well as a BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. Carmelo lived and worked in Asia for several years, calling Tokyo, Japan as well as Chiang Mai, Thailand home.
